The SAYSKY Base Layer Guide

The SAYSKY Base Layer Guide

Base layer for every adventure

Layering up is non-negotiable. No athlete has time for freezing or overheating. That’s why our base layers come in clutch. In the SAYSKY universe, we offer 3 three distinct types of base layers - each designed with a specific level of warmth and function.

Selecting the right base layer for each situation is essential for every runner aiming to optimize performance while staying comfortable, whether it's to prevent getting too cold or overheating. In this guide, we'll explore the three base layers available in the SAYSKY lineup, providing you with valuable insights to help you make informed choices about what to wear and when.

Mesh Base Layer

Our Mesh Base Layers - available in long sleeves and singlets - are great for warmth and breathability during shoulder and winter seasons. They have a tight fit, soft inner feel and are great for layering. Compared to our merino styles, the mesh base styles offer a lighter protection. The technical fabric keeps you warm and dry on the run, while offering strong moisture management abilities.

Features:

  • Breathability: 5/5
  • Sweat-wicking: 5/5
  • Warmth: 2/5
  • Weight: 1/5

Recommended use:

  • Ideal as a base layer during shoulder or winter season to keep you dry and comfortable.
  • Can also be used in the summer as a stand-alone piece, as it will prevent your body from overheating.

Merino Base Layer

Our Merino Base Layer provides warmth and comfort in cold weather. Merino wool is a four season material and great for every activity. It breathes and manages moisture better than any other fiber and is therefore ideal for layering in the colder months. Highlights include its odor resistance, temperature regulation, breathability, natural fiber and superior comfort.

From the lightweight 165gsm Merino base layer — available in a half-zip version for women — to full winter mode with the 195gsm Merino Blaze Long Sleeve, SAYSKY Merino has you covered.

Recommended use:

  • Mainly for comfort and warmth on cold training days, and as a crucial component in most layering setups.
  • Temperature range: merino fabric has a fantastic ability to regulate your body temperature, but we mainly recommend this for cold-weather sessions (-10 to 5 degrees/15 to 40 fahrenheit).
